Chinese government announces National Electronic Arena
China government has recently announced the start of a new era in the Chinese region where they will organize a tournament known as National Electronic Arena which will have a $300,000 prize pool money and a LAN final in the 2008 Olympics stadium.
Alongside the Chinese government, TongFang Media will be the co-host of National Electronic Arena. The tournament will include multiple video games of mobile and PC. The popular category of games included in the tournament are DotA 2, CS:GO and Hearthstone while the prize pool money for these games are $200,000, $100,000 and $38,000 respectively.
The open qualifiers for National Electronic Arena tournament will be taking place in May and June, while the main LAN event will start from July 1st to July 3rd at Bird Nest stadium, Beijing. The open qualifiers will be divided into four groups with a single elimination bracket to decide the winner which will further advance to the main event.
National TV (CCTV) will be responsible for the broadcasting of the tournament in Chinese language while the English coverage will be dealt by joinDOTA. The complete details of the coverage will be released soon by the organization.
According to the official statement, the government has invested $7,500,000 for the venues being developed for eSports games. Currently, the venue has the capacity of around 30,000 people while 1,000,000 number of participants are expected to compete in the open qualifiers of National Electronic Arena tournament.
