With our day 2 predictions being kind of ruined due to the heroics of Rubino, we figured you guys would want a piece on the Semi-Finals now. This time we will be going a little more in-depth, adding more information behind our picks, so despite the results you can find more sense behind our decisions, because unlike all those so called ‘Premium sites’ that require money to actually give detailed explanations, we like to give our fans all the juicy details for free!
Luminosity gaming vs Astralis
Our Odds: 55% – 45%
As expected Luminosity Gaming adapted after their day 1 upset and took down Faze Clan in dominating fashion. The power of prep time is something that Fallen and the LG squad in general has shown again and again and that will play a key part against the Danish giants. Unlike Faze, Astralis has a much more experienced squad that has a really good balance of insane skill and experience, so it definitely won’t be an easy battle for the Brazilian squad.
Now in terms of skill both teams are fairly well matched, with Astralis probably having a slight edge, while Luminosity Gaming probably has the superior synergy and executes on the back of Fallen being the better IGL at adapting. The Super Star players in Device for Astralis and ColdZera for Luminosity Gaming will be key when it comes to those tight grinding games, they will have to be the players to make the impact happen for their team and take it over the line.
In the end judging by both team’s recent form and showings, we got to give the edge to Brazilian squad once again. Mainly because Fallen has already shown that he can out call Karrigan and co whereas Device himself has stated in an interview after struggling against MouseSports that they are not as efficient when it comes to adjusting. Expect a very intense B03 battle that goes the distance, eventually ending with the Brazilians prevailing due to the Danes choking once again.
Our pick: Luminosity gaming barely edge Astralis
Key players: Fallen, Coldzera, Dupreeh, Device
Natus Vincere vs Team Dignitas
Our Odds: 80% – 20%
While Team Dignitas had some good showing in this tournament, Natus Vincere were on a league of their own. The CIS kings have been a top tier team for a while now and they continued their dominance by taking out both SK and Faze without even letting them hit double digits. That is a much greater showing than anything Dignitas did in their run so far, including their heroics against Mouz. Also If we learned anything from the counters between Natus Vincere and EnvyUS before, it is that they are extremely efficient at handling explosiveness and then slowly taking over rounds, as a result I just don’t see the style of Dignitas working against the CIS kings, even usual AWP duel advantages go away against Guardian, simply because the latter is undoubtedly the greatest player with the big green gun right now and he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.
Expect Dignitas to get more rounds than any of Natus Vincere’s previous opponents this tournament, but eventually fall to the might of Flamie and Guardian, giving the CIS kings yet another shot at winning a title this year.
Our pick: Natus Vincere to win a slightly competitive match
Key Players: Guardian and Flamie
